Presence of Gingival Recession or Noncarious Cervical Lesions on Teeth under Occlusal Trauma: A Systematic Review

Abstract The goal of this research was to carry out a systematic review verify the possible influence occlusal factors on occurrence gingival recession and noncarious cervical lesions. To answer specific question—whether or lesions teeth are present under trauma—a bibliographic search conducted at MEDLINE/PubMed, Web Science, Gray Literature databases focusing articles published, following strict inclusion criteria based randomized clinical trials, controlled studies, case series, with restricted language (English) publication date between March 2010 2020, considering patients trauma recession/noncarious injuries. Questionnaires, animal laboratory reports, interviews were excluded. First, title and/or abstract obtained analyzed and, finally, full-text reading performed. Given amount diversity final qualitative analysis made. Based established criteria, it obtain an initial 757 articles. After screening, five included, then results described in different, given heterogeneity subjected analysis. A few studies published past 10 years, suggesting that traumatic occlusion seems be associated lesion while is not arrive conclusion regard association trauma. Key Message Even though many professionals have categorically affirmed there relation lesion, found absence strong literature really prove it. Once defined, allows therapeutic focus centre causal contributing preventing reducing future recurrence.
